We welcome The Rev. Jane Hetherington-Rauth as our new lead pastor. Here are a few words from Pastor Jane:
The following is a little about me:  I have been an ordained pastor serving churches since 1981. I earned my B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley with a double major in psychology and social welfare. I have a master of divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, located in Evanston, Illinois; and I earned a M.S. degree in marital and family therapy at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

I love parish ministry. People need the community and the gospel hope of Christ more than they know. It is my purpose to help people find the joy of that in their life. One of my favorite books in this area is The Tangible Kingdom, by Hugh Halter and Matt Smay.  Interested in discovering the joy of great community and friends, email me at

Coaching and congregational development is another area I am most passionate about. I love to see people and faith communities develop and thrive in what God made them to do best. Some of the areas I have become quite experienced in over the last few years are best practices in congregational development, the multi-ethnic church, and church mergers.

Ministry is about people, relationships, life, and helping people discover the joy of life with a relationship with Christ in the midst of it all. I look forward to journeying with you in your walk with Christ.

Hobbies I love are kayaking, sailing, fly fishing, playing cards, biking, golf, and classical guitar. I am a certified United States Tennis Teaching Professional Instructor. So if you love tennis give me a call for sure. I am married to Thomas, and have three young adult children.

Come join us at Ventura First and find the joy of following Jesus and discovering the Life you were made for with God right in the middle of it all.  It is just JOY.

See you in the neighborhood.
Pastor Jane
